Hiking
With the Karwendel range to the west and the Rofan mountains to the east, Lake Achensee is the ideal starting point for easier hikes with the family or more challenging tours for sports enthusiasts. Around 500 kilometres of marked hiking trails wind up the mountains around Lake Achensee. Especially the Karwendel mountain range with the Karwendel nature reserve offers a unique insight into flora and fauna. If you are looking for an easier hiking experience, the Rofanseilbahn cable car or the Karwendel-Bergbahn cable car offer an easy way up. The Achensee Region offers free guided hikes in summer.
Rock climbing
The rugged rock faces and gentler rock formations in the Rofan mountains and an impressive climbing area in the Karwendel range guarantee a wide variety of climbing routes. Lake Achensee offers around 250 sport climbing routes and eight via ferratas.
Bike
Whether a gentler tour along Lake Achensee into one of the beautiful side valleys or a more challenging route into the mountains – there is something for everyone at Lake Achensee. Well-marked bike routes offer the right experience for all levels of difficulty and distances. E-bikes are also popular and can be rented in Achenkirch at Sport Busslehner.
